Recently, the Russian Luna 25 and the Indian Chandrayaan-3 arrived at the moon to attempt landings at the lunar south pole, with decidedly different results.

How NASA’s Artemis program could help to defeat China

Recently, NASA administrator Bill Nelson offered a warning about Chinese designs on the moon.

“I don’t want China to get to the South Pole first with humans and then say: This is ours, stay out,” he said. “If indeed we find water in abundance there that could be utilized for future crews and spacecraft, we want to make sure that’s available to all, not just the one that’s claiming it.”

NASA is sending humans to an asteroid: SpaceX will get them there

Recently, NASA developed a plan to send a crew of astronauts to an Earth-approaching asteroid, called Prospects for Future Human Space Flight Missions to Near-Earth Asteroids. The plan has its origins in a speech delivered by President Obama at the Kennedy Space Center in 2010.

Note: The headline is somewhat misleading. The plan is not yet funded but it is, I think, a worthy one.

President Joe Biden recently decided that the headquarters of the United States Space Command (SpaceCom) will remain at Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colo. The decision reverses one made by former President Donald Trump to move the headquarters to the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala.
