Star Trek Discovery: Why the Stacey Abrams Cameo Matters #RIPStarTrek

I’ve observed with great interest and amusement the debates about modern “woke” Star Trek. The defenders of the political posturing of especially Star Trek: Discovery maintain that Trek has always commented on social issues, so, shut up, you critics. The following video, focusing on the infamous Stacy Abrams cameo proves otherwise. By the way, if I had been tasked to chose a modern figure to represent the President of Earth, I would have chosen former NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine. To be sure, he started as a conservative Republican congressman. But, as head of the space agency, he made a conscious effort to transcend all of that and to make space exploration a bipartisan issue, so much so that he got Nancy Pelosi, of all people, to say nice things about it. In short, Bridenstine has done more to help create a Star Trek future that a million Stacy Abrams.

The Boeing Commercial Crew Starliner: Third time’s the charm

"With Starliner some years late and millions of dollars over budget, Boeing is clearly having some trouble adjusting to the brave new world of fixed-price contracts. Under the traditional cost-plus contracts that NASA used to acquire space hardware, the space agency would cover any cost overruns. Now, companies like Boeing have to eat any extra costs and try to make them up in the long term."
